SherpaCTF 2024: Hackathon-Style Jeopardy CTF in Malaysia

SherpaSec is excited to announce SherpaCTF 2024, a Jeopardy-style Capture the Flag (CTF) competition with a unique Hackathon twist. Scheduled to take place on-site from November 23-24, 2024, this event aims to gather Malaysia’s brightest cybersecurity minds for 24 hours of intense challenges and innovative presentations.

Objectives of SherpaCTF

Unite cybersecurity professionals and students across Malaysia.
Identify talent for international competitions.
Provide sponsors with direct access to top talents in cybersecurity.
Contribute to the growth of Malaysia’s cybersecurity talent pool.

The Hackathon Element

Unlike traditional CTFs, SherpaCTF introduces elements of presentation and communication skills. Here are the key differences:

Solution Presentations: Teams will create slides deck or media to showcase their solutions for the challenges they solved.
Prizes for Presentation: The majority of the prize pool will go towards awards for the Best Presentation in each challenge category, with only one prize for the top-scoring team.
Judging Panel Feedback: A panel of industry veterans will evaluate presentations and provide on-the-spot feedback for improvement.
Publications: Winning presentations will be recorded and published online.

Open: Open to anyone with a valid Malaysian IC.
Student: Open to students with a valid student ID from a Malaysian educational institution.
No restrictions on age, gender, or background.
